Counting down the days.... 12.21.22

Some people might think today is the shortest day of the year, but for families waiting for their puppy and puppies waiting for their family, these last few days feel LONG! But in these last few days, we're enjoying some very playful, fun times. A trip out to the trampoline on a sunny morning was a great experience for the pups, and they were fairly resigned as we stuffed our stockings...with them. It's been a pleasure having these pups in our lives and we will send them off to their new families grateful for the opportunity to have invested into their early days!
Bluey - her new name is Hadley, and she'll be going home to her new family in Boston, MA!
Bingo - now called Bosco by her new family in Middletown, CT!
Bandit - her new family in Brooklyn, NY has renamed her Francis!
Chilli - now known as Trixie to her new family in Danbury, NH!

Five Weeks Flying By! 12.5.22

They say it's the most wonderful time of the year, and Cocoa's pups are full of wonder! They've experienced their first Thanksgiving (with lots of relatives here to play with them!), and helped us put up the Christmas tree. They're getting used to seeing people in surprising outfits, including Santa hats, candy cane headbands, and practically hidden under winter gear. Their collection of toys is growing, and they are looking forward to meeting their new families on Saturday!

Pups Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, and Chilli are engaging the world with a major new sense this week! With their eyes newly opened, they're starting to take a look at their surroundings. We have much to be thankful for this season, and these puppies are a few of those things!

Cocoa's babies were born on Halloween night, and SURPRISE! Two of the pups are blue roans! The whole litter are just beautiful, and in celebration of their color, we decided to name the four girls after one of our youngest kids' favorite shows - Bluey!

Having been Lab lovers for 50 years, our decision to have a small dog was not easy. Little did we know that Lucy would waltz into our lives and bring such joy, that it is difficult to imagine life without her. At 5 months she is a bundle of energy, loves people and dogs, and is intensely curious about everything, except big, noisy trucks. Lucy's transition to our home was made easy due to the care she received by Lydia of Dutch Haven Dogs. Murphy, the stuffed dog with a beating heart, came with Lucy, and can still be found each morning cuddled underneath her. Lucy has slept through the night all but the first 2 nights with us. The written routine given to us helped to get us through those first unknown weeks. Included in the pages of information given to us were tips about personality, behavior, and care. I remember Lydia telling us when we came to get Lucy, that she massaged the puppies' paws and ears daily so that they were used to being touched. To this day, it is part of my "loving" routine. Getting my dog from Dutch Haven was the best experience I could imagine. We got Dublin 6 years ago and I still think of the first time I contacted Dutch Haven to picking him out to bringing him home.
