6 Weeks Today! 11.18.24

Time with these sweet pups is just flying by! In just the past few days we have seen a (very typical) leap developmentally, as the pups are suddenly expressing much more interest in the world around them, and are eager to try out every new experience and skill (such as "jumping", "climbing", "wrestling", "barking", and more, all at a very toddler level)! They are learning to express themselves with waving tails, various vocalizations, and of course, their big puppy dog eyes! This will be a super fun week for them as we'll be doing personality profiling and introducing them to their new families this weekend :-).
Burgundy - new name Wesley - now home in Medford, MA!
Carmine - new name Phoebe - going home to Stow, MA!
Scarlet - soon to be residing in Hampton, NH!
Mahogany - his new name is Oakley, and he'll be living in Newbury, MA!
Sienna - newly named Ruby, she'll be going home to big brother Benjamin (also a Dutch Haven pup!) in Hanover, NH!
Crimson - black & white parti/roan male - spoken for!

Indigo & Chester's gorgeous litter arrived on Monday, October 7, with the first pup announcing his arrival with a hearty squeak! He was quickly followed by 5 more pups, and these six siblings have settled in just fine. I love how symmetrical the litter is - one tuxedo girl, two tuxedo boys, two parti girls, one parti boy! We've decided to name the puppies after shades of red in a nod to the children's jokes about "black and white and red all over".

Having been Lab lovers for 50 years, our decision to have a small dog was not easy. Little did we know that Lucy would waltz into our lives and bring such joy, that it is difficult to imagine life without her. At 5 months she is a bundle of energy, loves people and dogs, and is intensely curious about everything, except big, noisy trucks. Lucy's transition to our home was made easy due to the care she received by Lydia of Dutch Haven Dogs. Murphy, the stuffed dog with a beating heart, came with Lucy, and can still be found each morning cuddled underneath her. Lucy has slept through the night all but the first 2 nights with us. The written routine given to us helped to get us through those first unknown weeks. Included in the pages of information given to us were tips about personality, behavior, and care. I remember Lydia telling us when we came to get Lucy, that she massaged the puppies' paws and ears daily so that they were used to being touched. To this day, it is part of my "loving" routine. We absolutely LOVED our experience with Dutch Haven! My favorite part is that the puppies are so well loved by the Groen family before they are ready to go to their new homes. Getting my dog from Dutch Haven was the best experience I could imagine. We got Dublin 6 years ago and I still think of the first time I contacted Dutch Haven to picking him out to bringing him home. The process was seamless. I happily waited 9 months for my puppy knowing he was coming from a loving, healthy family breeder.
