Spunky, funky, lots of fun! 3.18.24

The days for S'more's puppies are full of fun, and the pups are full of enthusiasm! Toys of every variety, indoor and outdoor play, "unicorns & hippos" pretend-play with Betsy, engagements (and entertainment) with our other adult dogs, and of course, lots of visitors keep boredom at bay.

4 Weeks of Fun! February 29

This "Leap Day" we're celebrating S'more's pups starting to "leap" around (well, a little bit anyways). Playful attempts at "woofs" and clumsy wrestling matches means these puppies are starting to look for new ways to engage with the world around them (other than just asking "are you food"!) Still a little mystified by the concept of toys; definitely into snuggles - this is one of the delightful stages of puppyhood!

S'more Cuteness! - 2.2.24

S'more welcomed her babies with great surprise - as a first-time mom she wasn't sure what to think, but instincts kicked in as soon as she sniffed her first puppy; she immediately flopped down and started nursing her precious pup! This litter is full of vitality and color. Our kids selected the main theme of Campfire Treats, and had many suggestions! If there are treats here you haven't tried yet, you should start planning your next camping trip with your Cockapoo pup along for inspiration! (Listed in birth order; weights are at 1 week old.)

Having been Lab lovers for 50 years, our decision to have a small dog was not easy. Little did we know that Lucy would waltz into our lives and bring such joy, that it is difficult to imagine life without her. At 5 months she is a bundle of energy, loves people and dogs, and is intensely curious about everything, except big, noisy trucks. Lucy's transition to our home was made easy due to the care she received by Lydia of Dutch Haven Dogs. Murphy, the stuffed dog with a beating heart, came with Lucy, and can still be found each morning cuddled underneath her. Lucy has slept through the night all but the first 2 nights with us. The written routine given to us helped to get us through those first unknown weeks. Included in the pages of information given to us were tips about personality, behavior, and care. I remember Lydia telling us when we came to get Lucy, that she massaged the puppies' paws and ears daily so that they were used to being touched. To this day, it is part of my "loving" routine. Getting my dog from Dutch Haven was the best experience I could imagine. We got Dublin 6 years ago and I still think of the first time I contacted Dutch Haven to picking him out to bringing him home.
