S'more's Sock Monkeys 6.1.25
S'more was so very interested in the proceedings as Indigo welcomed her babies in the puppy nursery area, and just two days later her own little babies arrived! S'more is always playful and has a great sense of humor, but when it comes to motherhood she is downright practical and definitely a professional. Her pups are meticulously clean and never squeak from hunger (although occasionally from enthusiastic bathing by mama's tongue!)
Our name theme for this litter is based on an Americana classic: The Sock Monkey! Here's a little bit of historical background (from Wikipedia). John Nelson patented the sock-knitting machine in 1868 and opened a sock factory in Rockford, IL. Nelson's son Franklin improved the process by inventing a machine that knitted socks without a seam at the heel, which were very popular and this style of socks became known as Rockfords. Advertising exec Howard Monk suggested making the socks with red heels to help them stand out from the competition, and the essential ingredients for sock monkeys were all in place. During the Great Depression, Americans began repurposing their worn out socks to make children's toys, and the iconic sock monkey was born!
