And They're Off! 11.3.22
Rory's ArgoNavis puppies are off to their new families, having new adventures. Three of the pups were adopted by families who already have one of our Dutch Haven Cockapoos, so these pups have a built-in big brother or sister! Some of the pups got to go on a plane ride with me, and charmed our fellow passengers with their good travel manners. These pups got to spend most of the week staying with me at my parents' house, terrorizing - I mean, playing with - miniature Poodles Anton & Paddington. With every litter of pups, we send them off with pieces of us invested into them and we're so pleased and happy to see where they go from here!
Carina - loves her Dutch Haven big brother Charlie and is going by Daisy in Georgetown, MA!
Pyxis - now known as Luna and having a ball with her Dutch Haven big sister Sasha in Lowell, MA!
Argo - renamed Toby and going home with Dutch Haven big brother Murphy in North Andover, MA!
Vela - now known as Birdie to her family in Dallas, TX!
Puppis - now called Charlie by his new family in Stow, MA!
Busy Busy Life! 10.11.22
Every day is full of interest for Rory's ArgoNavis puppies! It's been a very educational time for them as they are the audience for oral spelling practice, multiplication tables, and piano practice. They weather has been ideal for lots of outdoor play with the kids, not to mention sniffing noses with Aunt Willow (the Lab) and playing with stuffed animals with Aunts Amy and Obi (the Cockers). Meanwhile, spa treatments that include brushing, nail clipping, facial hair trims, and baths keep the pups looking and smelling their best! Fitting all that in between naps means the days are just packed! (You'll notice that some of the pups were even starting to fall asleep during our photo shoot!)
Pyxis - female, 3 lb. 5 oz.
Puppis - male, 3 lb. 3 oz.
Vela - female, 3 lb. 11 oz.
Argo - male, 3 lb. 12 oz.
Carina - female, 2 lb. 15 oz.
Sight & Sound Activated! 9.23.22
Rory's star-spangled puppies are 3 weeks old! They've opened their eyes and are starting to explore the world with the new senses of sight and hearing. They're starting to balance on all four paws - though some are better at that skill than others right now. Puppy curriculum these days includes a variety of touch/handling exercises to help the pups get comfortable with being held and moved around by humans. We're also introducing new environmental sounds and textures for them to explore. Not to mention lots of (supervised) snuggles with our kids. It's a good time to be a puppy at our house!

Starry-Eyed over these puppies! 9.2.22

Aurora & Chester (our nick-name for Checkers) welcomed a beautiful litter of parti puppies on the first Friday in September. Aurora kindly gave birth during the day, which is always nice for us diurnal creatures! These pretty parti pups are thriving - round bellies, sleek coats, and lots of contented little noises. We've started with Early Neurological Stimulation, introducing the pups to gyrational movement, temperature differences, and tickling the paw pads as means to stimulation neurological development. We've also started on Early Scent Introduction, offering the pups exposure to specific smells at a time before they are able to see and hear. Our kids love helping with these carefully planned exercises!
We enjoyed watching the night sky this summer, especially during the month of August, and we saw many shooting stars from the Perseid meteor showers. We decided to name this "star-sprinkled" litter after an ancient constellation named after the Greek Argonauts - "Argo Navis", which has now been divided into several smaller constellations. I am always fascinated by these little glimpses into history!
Argo Navis (the Ship Argo), male - apricot with white blaze & paws
Puppis (the Stern), male - parti - apricot ears
Vela (the Sails), female - parti - apricot ears, large dot on head
Carina (the Keel), female - parti - apricot patch on eye, small dot on head
Pyxis (the Compass), female - parti - apricot ears
