The Gallery of Grown-Up Cockapoos
We decided to start a page for our puppies who are all grown up. If you are a current owner and have photos and information you'd like to share, we'd love to add to this page! This page continues to be a work in progress so please pardon our appearance as we figure out formatting, order of appearance, etc. Anyways, here's a start...
Zoe (birth name Star)
Princess & Henry - December 2022
It seems like just yesterday that you were here delivering Zoe. She’s brought a lot of love and joy to this family. She has definitely inherited her long legs from both parents and loves to jump. The photos after grooming shows how long and tall she is, and at full maturity she is now 24 pounds. Best dog ever! Thanks again for bringing her to us. 😊

Winnie (birth name Winnie the Pooh)
Aurora & Chester - January 2022
Winnie has been a love from the first day we brought her home. She slept through the night in her crate from day one without a peep and potty trained very quickly as well…thanks to the schedule and tips you shared. Winnie is getting used to traveling in the car to Newport, RI and Salisbury, MA and sleeping over in different surroundings. She is super friendly and adventurous, but cautious when she is unsure of her surroundings. She loves other dogs and her best friend is a 3 year old Australian shepherd, but will defend her ground when needed with her shockingly loud bark!! She loves to play and uses our winter pool cover as a trampoline with all of her toys! (She is quite the jumper as well….more like a Tigger! LOL) She will easily switch gears to snuggle and watch a movie or lie in front of the fireplace. We are so thankful that we found Dutch Haven Dogs and we can’t imagine life without our little Winnie. Thank you so much for all you do to provide such beautiful and well socialized cockapoos. Winnie has been a great blessing to our family.

Maisie (birth name Mayzie)
Hanna & Nico - July 2018
UPDATE: December, 2022
Maisie and I completed the Service Dog training from The White Mountain College for Pets in Holderness, NH! *Congratulations Maisie & Mandy!
[Maisie] has proven to be a wonderful addition to our family. She truly is the center of our little universe. My husband adores her and the feeling is mutual. She loves to greet him with her whole body wagging.
We are back in obedience training mainly to get me more organized - she is fine. I want to train her to therapy dog level and we had taken the last few months off training and I was lazy; she remembers everything. Maisie is exceptionally bright. The instructor told the class, "those of you with very bright dogs" -and she looked directly at Maisie- "have to be careful about repetition". Too much and they get bored. She is so right about that. People ask me how training goes. I say very well. Every time Maisie rings the bell I jump up. Whenever she sits at my feet adoringly I get her a treat. If she brings her bowl to me I feed her immediately and if she sits and talks to me I play with her. I think she has me pretty well trained. But you will have to ask her.
She is funny if I correct her and ask her to help if she is pulling on the leash she does well but then she starts doing the behavior that warrants the correction so she can get a treat. She cracks me up. I tell her that is not the way it works and she gets it. I had to get rid of the bell as she had me popping up every few minutes to let her out play etc. It was funny. She has a great sense of humor and the best smile. I can never capture (in a photo) the toothy grin she gets when we first go out on our walk. I give her what I call “I love you treats” while walking and if she is by my side and looks at me with that cute little grin she gets her treat. We are doing off leash work as well and she is really good; I am nervous but she is always right near us. She is an AKC FIT canine. [We] walk several miles a day broken up in to 4-6 times. We live in a development out here and I have to walk her to pee and poop but she loves to walk. If it is too hot we go home early if it is gorgeous she is the one that chooses the path. So funny to watch her do that. One day I was in a hurry and we had to do a short walk and she literally sat down in front of the foot path she wanted to take. Needless to say she did not get her way but it was close. She has this way of looking at me that makes me just Total Mush and I will do anything for her.
She also has two different walks. Her proud Poodle walk when she thinks she is something special and then her goofy Spaniel walk when she wants to play or just say “I love you”.
She travels easily to California and back sleeps at my feet in her travel crate on the plane. She is 18 pounds and very calm for her age. That is not to say she is not playful and fun but she sits peacefully while we eat or when I am driving places. We go back and forth to my daughter's in Portsmouth often and she just sleeps in my lap or next to me (I am NOT the driver if she is in my lap). She never bothers me while I am driving either.
She still sleeps in her crate. All I say now is “Bedtime” and off she goes. Maisie loved scent work last year in CA and we will do that and agility again when we go back in December/January.

Ollie (birth name Oliebollen)
Hanna & Nico - September 2016
Ollie has made our family complete! In the warm weather he likes to run on the beach, go hiking, catch bubbles outside (yes, real bubbles), play baseball in the yard, and lie in the sun on his porch! When the cold weather hits he LOVES the snow and has found his own game of stealing our hats right off our heads. No matter the time of year you can find him relaxing on his beanbag chair, watching the squirrels, and squeaking his favorite pink flamingo toy. He is 25 pounds and we couldn’t be more in love with him! Susan, Andover, MA
Jasper (birth name Jasper)
Izzie & Nico - February 2016
Jasper is 24 pounds and has been right at that point for the past couple of years. His most favorite toy is his duck which he has with him always. He loves to play fetch with his ball in the back yard. His activity level is perfect- could easily go on a long walk, and just as happy to lay around all day if we are home relaxing. He loves garbage day because our recycling truck carries milk bones and as soon as he hears the truck he asks to go outside to get a treat from them! I will have to get this on video some day- it is very cute. We love him so much!

Sky (birth name Digory)
Indie & Nico - July 2015
Mr. Sky still endeavors to be his most wonderful and rambunctious self! Do you remember when we were picking him up, and he was running all around the circle of your then house, and how he jumped on his little brother from the stairs? Well, he hasn't changed much from that...he's our little character boy all the way around. He keeps us hopping and on the go! He's a consummate ball player (he enjoys playing even more than food!) and he loves his little Kong stuffed purple Rhino...that's his constant companion. When he's not wrestling it to death, he's chewing on it or licking it all over. Needless to say, he's been through several Purples (as we call it) over these past 5+ years. He's also incredibly intelligent and has figured Bill and I out very well. Of course, he thinks he has the upper hand, but well, we won't tell him we know exactly what he's up to. Janet, North Ferrisburg, VT
Freya (birth name Maid Marian)
Cupcake & Nico - January 2020
Freya's family has started an Instagram hashtag for Cupcake's puppies - you can look for them at #cupcakenico! Sheila, Newburyport, MA
Gigi (birth name Azaleia)
Lilac & Nico - May 2020
I didn't know quite what to expect with my first dog, but she has changed our lives forever and I can't imagine our lives without her. Gigi is an absolute love. She is playful, sweet, snuggly, hops like a deer, a good listener, friendly with people and dogs! She loves snow, the beach, leaves, running (deer hopping!) in the cemetery, riding/sleeping in the car and snuggling with her family and stuffed friends which she carries from room to room. Gigi even drove to Key West, FL (from Andover) on a 3-1/2 week road trip and was a great travel companion. She does not like water, bright hot sun or wearing hats or costumes of any kind (sorry, Gigi!).
When she sees another dog she freezes then lays flat on the ground with the most adorable puppy eyes. She stays completely still until owners and dogs alike approach her with a warm welcome as her cue to play. Not only do we think she's the cutest dog on the planet, but we are always getting stopped on the street for people to compliment her behavior and disposition.
We feel blessed to have been spoiled with such an amazing dog. Thank you for sharing your babies with us! I wouldn't be surprised if you hear from us in 6-12 months ready for a little playmate. I'm sure you have quite the wait list these days!

Ireland (birth name Faith)
Gracie & Nico - May 2016
5 years already! It seems like yesterday when we took our exciting road from New Jersey to New Hampshire. Ireland is so loving. She has to be in the middle always. She is very protective, she loves to bark at anyone who walks by our house until she can no longer see them. She loves her stuffed animals. Ireland is my little shadow. She completes our family. Her weight is 28 pounds. She has maintained that exact weight since full grown. She is such a joy. Her nickname is the “kissing queen”. She will give puppy kisses non-stop. It’s so cute.
I love to go on your website and look at all the new pups. So glad your family is continuing to bring happy and lovable puppies into the world. Thank you for sharing your pups with all of us!

Polly (birth name Dancer)
Hanna & Nico - December 2015
She is practically perfect in every way! We love her so much. She is such a vulnerable, pensive, and soulful creature. She is so in tune, she loves tv. Music comes on and she knows to perk up to the tv because it will be a commercial with a doggie coming on. She loves to watch TV and interacts with the animals, happy cries for the dogs and little growls for the kitties. She loves to be on the sofa with me. We have it covered and she loves to bring her toys from her downstairs bed to the sofa. One thing that's funny is when she is done with her toys, she puts them all back in her little bed. A neat little girl. She is not a food beggar at all, which is great, except for ice cream - she knows that. Thinking your sweet boys or you or your husband may have had some where the puppies got a taste? It is very funny to see Polly react to it, she goes bananas and gets quite verbal about it..lol..! She loves to walk on her back legs. So sweet and so smart.

Jasper (birth name Mica)
Izzie & Nico - February 2016
Jasper's family sent us this poem:
Jasper, how do we love thee?
Let me count the ways.
1.Jasper you are so smart--understanding so many words
2.Jasper you are so verbal--using different sounds to let us know your needs
3.Jasper you are very athletic--run like the wind, jump high and catch balls on the fly
4.Jasper you are very affectionate
5.Jasper you are just adorable and we love you dearly

Lucca (birth name Malbec)
Madi & Nico - January 2017
Lucca's family tells us, "He is 19.5 pounds of cuteness after his first professional grooming. He is the darling of my neighborhood, housebroken, playful and loving (everyone). Likes trail walks, running streams, the dog park, and buffet tables. Oh noooo! At four years old, Lucca is a perfect dog and best companion especially on the trail. So smart and obedient! So lucky am I! Thank you for good breeding."

Violet (birth name Flora)
Izzie & Nico - September 2016
We couldn't be more happy to have our dog as a part of our family. Violet has grown into a beautiful, smart, happy, loving dog. She loves playing fetch in our apartment complex courtyard with all of her dog friends, hiking along trails and the Charles River, going for drives, visiting her grandparents, wearing any of her many bandannas, and ripping up any tissues she can find. She is happy both in parks and in the city and is incredibly well adjusted to people and to other pets. We constantly have people stopping us to say how adorable she is and we always rave about her original home at Dutch Haven. Training has gone really well but we are still working on her occasionally barking if we leave her alone at an unusual time (she likes schedules). Violet has become such an important part of our lives and we can't thank you enough for bringing her into our family.

Lucy (birth name Lotus)
Keebler & Ethan - March 2010
Lucy is the friendliest, happiest, most eager to please dog we have ever met. When we took our puppy training class, the instructor brought a fearful and aggressive dog with her so we could understand the warning signs if our dog walked by one - except when it was Lucy's turn, instead of growling and raising her hackles, the fearful dog got interested in Lucy, and Lucy befriended her. And that has been her defining life story basically. She is incredibly obedient and obsessed with balls of any shape or size.
She knows everyone in our neighborhood, comes to work with us, and travels with us. She's great in a car, on a plane, or taking the MBTA! She's run a 5K and loves exercise, but also loves just relaxing at home. She adapted to life in a city apartment flawlessly, and is now a big sister to two humans, aged 3 and 5. She is amazing with little kids and with other dogs. We are so grateful she is in our lives, and think often and fondly of your family and the start you gave her.
At the age of 7, she did develop a cataract, but hoping that she has another 7 years ahead of her, we had it surgically corrected and she is back to normal. She does has some separation anxiety if our entire family leaves the house at one time and doesn't bring her with us, so we do still crate her in those instances. She freaks out if our doorbell rings or if the pizza delivery guy shows up. And we recently got an Amazon Echo, and she desperately fears Alexa. Other than those quirks, she is the perfect dog. Oh, and she grew to be about 16 lbs.

Tinker (birth name Angel Cake)
Cupcake & Nico - November 2018
Tinker has the same likes as her brother Benny! Also anything paper that she can shred and also thinks all dogs are her friends. She weighs 25 pounds and has a mind of her own. When I take her for a walk and if she doesn’t want to walk she sits and will not move unless I say let’s go home then she prances happily back to the house. If I didn’t know any better I would think she is part bloodhound, she sniffs everything and sometimes walks with her nose to the ground.
Diana, Wallingford, CT |
Benny (birth name Johnny Cake)
Cupcake & Nico - November 2018
Benny is a huge fan of his stuffed friends. He is very loving and gentle with one in particular; his stuffed animal bunny. He hold him and sucks on him. It’s bizarre. It’s soothing for him. He LOVES cheese! We use cheese as a high reward treat. His tail is constantly wagging, he’s such a happy boy.
Benny was our first puppy. He was super easy to potty train. We are still working on walking on a leash. High reward treats help! He wants to say hello to everyone and everything on our walks. He is obsessed with toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, paper bags! He doesn’t eat them, just shreds them.
Now full grown, Benny is 26 pounds. We feed him Hills Science Diet Lamb and Brown Rice. He doesn’t gobble down his food, he grazes all day.

KC Jo (birth name Buckwheat)
Kallie & Nico - April 2019
KC loves to share a stick with his friend Luna. At a year old, he weighs 22 pounds. "He loves all kinds of toys but I think he loves to play ball the best. We also have 2 adult cats; KC goes into play bow and dodges left, right, forwards, & backwards and they just kinda look at him like he’s crazy as he hops around. He is just the most perfect mix of playful pup and sweet cuddly."

Dash (birth name Fig)
Jade & Anton - April 2018
Dash's family tells us, "We check your website regularly for the new puppies and to see how much Anton’s pups look like our Dash. They are all adorable, but I am partial towards the parti pups. I have attached some pictures of Dash. I can’t believe he is two years old today. He is all about the fun or the cuddle. In these trying times [Covid-19] he has become the practicing, although unlicensed, therapy dog for us all. Our daughter who is an RN understandably stays clear of us all but comes by the house to play outside with Dash. He is a joy!" At 2 years old now, Dash is a lean 20 pounds underneath the fluff!

Jordan (birth name Dr. Turner)
Bailey & Nico - July 2017
Our family could not imagine life without Jordan! He runs on pure love. Jordan waits for and greets the boys when they come home from school, happily plays fetch, cuddles next to me while I fold laundry, and really turns on his turbo engines for a playful game of chase with my husband at night. At 26 pounds, he is the perfect size and is friendly with other children and dogs during our walks. And, he “smiles” for a camera! Thank you, Dutch Haven, for this special guy.

Sophie (birth name Willow)
Gracie & Nico - October 2015
Thought it was time to get these pictures to you!! What can I say about Sophie in a few words? It takes many many words to describe this little love! The joy she has brought in to our lives is immeasurable! She is sweet, but sassy! She loves her brother, Cooper and is definitely the boss! She loves nothing more than giving her love and getting love in return! Sophie has been doing Therapy Dog work for a little over a year now and is amazing at her job! I am in awe of her sense of knowing when someone needs her most! The smiles.... and sometimes happy tears that she brings to people she visits is worth every minute of the hard work it took to get her to this point! It is equally amazing to watch her calm Cooper when he is stressed. Whether it's a slight nudge or a playful "come and get me", her love for him is as sweet as she is! On a funny note, she has jumped every gate and has run through the invisible fence on many occasions which has resulted in a fenced in back yard which we love! We love this girl to pieces and thank God for her every day!

Jackson (birth name Franklin)
Lucy & Nico - October 2016
We impatiently waited 9 months to welcome Jackson Marmalade to his forever-home and it was worth every second! He continues to bring so much joy and laughter to our lives! He loves chewing cardboard, prancing through the snow, squeaking his Lamb Chop stuffy, and meeting new dogs (both in-person and on the big screen). Jackson has been a huge blessing to our lives and we could not be happier to be part of the Dutch Haven family. We hope to expand our family soon with children and can’t wait to update you on how he shares the spotlight. [Jackson is 24 pounds at full maturity.]

Lucy (birth name Paris)
Sandie & Nico - February 2016
Lucy Paris is the love of our lives and everyone that she meets. She is happy, spunky and ready to take on any challenge. A successful graduate of the Canine Good Citizen program, Lucy is welcome at so many places, including the local gym, my hairdresser, and nail salon! A surprise to us was Lucy's affinity for the water: swimming began at her first visit to our neighbor's pool, and now includes dock and river bank diving, and kayaking! She is a "champion" in our eyes in so many ways: her friendliness, her intelligence, her agility (yes, tunnels, jumps, ramps, you name it) and her catching, "twirling", and fetching abilities! She is happiest when with her "pack", and she is happy to welcome anyone into her pack. She weighs in around 20 pounds, and is always ready to take any kind of trip with us: walking, hiking, swimming, car rides, a ferry, a power boat --- nothing fazes our girl!

Benton (birth name Benton)
Bella & Nico - July 2016
At two years old, we received a formal update from Benton's family:
Benton, or as our daughter, Caeli, calls him, “Handsome”, is the love of our lives. Benton is a certified Pet Partner Pet Therapy dog who goes to work with Austin every afternoon to spread love and happiness to all the patients and staff, plus he gets a drink at the water dispenser in the waiting room which makes everyone giggle and smile.
Nothing makes Benton happier than being outdoors either playing with a squeaky ball, chasing the ducks, chipmunks, squirrels and geese, or water tubing, paddle boarding, & pontooning on Lake Winnisquam. Benton enjoys giving us loads of kisses as he receives his fair share of tummy rubs. He has stolen more than a few a pair of socks from the laundry basket along with stealing our hearts!
Benton is definitely the center of attention in our family and we couldn’t imagine life without him. He has truly completed our family.

Arthur (birth name Uncle Albert)
Hanna & Nico - June 2017
On Arthur's first birthday his family writes, "Arthur is such a love with a huge personality. As you can see from the photo, he still loves his baby blanket and will often times bring it to bed with him at night. He also LOVES fetch, I swear he would play all day if possible. He is very social and loves meeting new people, dogs and kids. He also enjoys the dog park, especially when there is a nice hole for him to lie down in! We truly could not be happier with him and we are so glad he is a part of our family. Don't be surprised if we reach out to you in about a year to be added to the waitlist again, we think Arthur would love having a dog friend around!"

He loves everyone he meets and spent the summer going on multiple trips with us, visiting friends and going to outdoor concerts. Just like we read about Bailey, Jack loves to run and play but is also quite happy to relax and cuddle with his people. We are thrilled to have Jack in our lives and he brings us much joy!"

Cooper (birth name Mini Cooper)
Bailey & Nico - December 2016
Cooper's family tells us, "He is amazing and does everything with us. He LOVES the beach, where we spend lots of time, loves fishing and swimming with the boys, walks every day, hangs like a champ at the boy's baseball games and chills in the yard with us when it's time to relax. He gets lots of attention wherever we go and we can't get over how incredibly sweet he is, he is amazing with us, especially the kids. He's so very smart and easy to train... and he wants to be best friends with the cats ... (sometimes too friendly as you'll see in one of the pics). When Cooper got his summer haircut he looked exactly like his mama! He's a big boy now - almost 27 pounds, but not overweight at all! We can't thank you enough for our sweet and wonderful boy - the only problem now is that we want another one!"

Molly (birth name Kiki)
Hanna & Nico - September 2016
Molly's family writes, "She's awesome. She's around 20 pounds and 22 inches tall from top of head to floor. She loves SOCKS - any socks. She digs for them in the laundry - clean or not. There can be a full basket of laundry and she will find a sock at the bottom/top/middle (anywhere) of the pile and run off and play with it. Folding the laundry can be a workout. The game is to un-ball them. For entertainment, I will fill a basket full of balled socks and watch her dig them from the basket and un-ball them. Needless to say, we have many single socks since the match is 'somewhere' around the house. Molly also has an orange football that she loves. She plays with that regularly and she still has the little black and white cow [she brought home from Dutch Haven]. She plays with that regularly too. Funny thing she does is look up to the sky when a bird or a plane goes over; looks straight up and watches it until she can't see it. She's a bit stubborn at times, but I think that's 'cause she's super smart and very curious. She loved the winter and is chasing leaves and acorns now. Maybe because she was born in the fall! The cute meter doesn't register that high. We love her so much."

Luka's family tells us that she is a slender 15.5 pounds and people think she is still a puppy. They often have people tell them how beautiful she is. Her best friend is a golden retriever. Luka's favorite hobby is playing ball, and she would play all day long if she could!

Griffin (birth name Webster)
Neeto & Nico - March 2014
Charlie (birth name Col. Brandon)
Mya & Nico - November 2014
Charlie's family reports: Charlie's favorite toy is a squeaky burger toy (we call him the "hamburglar") and also his fuzzy ducky toy he's had since he first came to our house in January! He loves running around in the backyard and trying to cuddle with our cat (even though she's very opposed to being too close to him ;). Charlie is 21 pounds (we're pretty sure he's done growing). Like I said before he is so sweet with everyone he meets and especially loves meeting the dogs of the neighborhood. He loves to eat popcorn and ice but he can only eat his ice in solitude! For some reason whenever he gets an ice cube he runs into the other room and eats it there - he's a strange one!

Milo (birth name Timon)
Pretty & Nico - June 2014
As a 1 year old, Milo is a bit of an "old soul", which makes him a great fit for his family! Milo really adapts to the people around him; he's very happy being held and petted by children and their grandparents, but he also loves to run around the yard with a soccer ball, "playing soccer" with the kids! He weighed 22 pounds until he got his summer haircut, and now just tips the scales at 21 pounds!
