All Home Now! 11.15.22
What a fun 8+ weeks with Buttercup's Royals! As they go off to their new families, we are confident that their flexibility, eagerness to learn, and desire to please will bring them great places in life!
Queen Victoria is now Pippa, younger sister of Dutch Haven pup Fiona in Kennebunk, ME!
Queen Elizabeth is now Skipper, younger sister of Dutch Haven pup Sailor in Phoenixville, PA!
Queen Anne is now Olive, younger sister of Dutch Haven pup Ginger in Cumberland, RI!
King Charles is settling in with his new family in Walpole, MA!
Marie Antoinette, now called Maisy by her family in Stoneham, MA!
A Quick Trip Outside! 9.26.22
We wanted to take advantage of a warm, sunny day to introduce the puppies to grass and the great outdoors. At first, they were a little unsure of the combination of new textures and smells, but they had a good time sniffing and investigating this brand new environment!
It's a Parti! September 8th!
Our beautiful Princess Buttercup was bred with the dashing Anton for this beautiful litter of white and black babies! They arrived healthy and happy during the day on Thursday September 8, with Buttercup doing a great job keeping them clean and well-fed! She is such a good mama!
The royal name theme was chosen in honor of Queen Elizabeth II of England. We learned of her passing as we were welcoming these new little ones into the world.
Firstborn is a black-and-white parti girl, with large spots of black across her back, and a lovely crown marking on her head. Birth weight 8.5 oz., today is 1 lb. 0.1 oz. Her name is Queen Victoria!
Second is an all-white girl, though she is developing some pale apricot markings on her face and ears, and more color will likely show up as her coat comes in. Birth weight 8.8 oz., today is 1 lb. 0 oz. Her name is Queen Elizabeth!
Third is a black-and-white parti boy, with large spots of black across his back and tail, and black on his eyes and ears. Birth weight 9.1 oz., today is 1 lb. 1.5 oz. His name is King Charles!
Fourth is a black-and-white parti girl, with only two spots of black near her tail, and a cute crown marking. Birth weight 8.1 oz., today is 14.5 oz. Her name is Queen Anne!
Fifth is a black-and-white parti girl, with a couple of large black spots on her back, and one small spot. Her face has a lovely mask marking! Birth weight 8.7 oz., today is 15.0 oz. Her name is Marie Antoinette! (I like that it includes a nod to her parentage through Anton)
Do you want the backstory?
Buttercup very sneakily went into heat during our busy fourth of July weekend, and we just barely managed to get her scheduled with the stud! Fortunately Anton was up to the task! Our early ultrasound showed that she was successfully carrying (drumroll...) only 2 puppies. We were a little disappointed that we could not see more, but remained hopeful for a bonus puppy as we watched Buttercup grow very round! Imagine our surprise and delight to welcome not 3, not 4, but 5 lovely little puppies! These little ones are receiving the best of care and attention from all of us!
