Happy Easter! Monday, April 18
At 5+ weeks, the Sisterhood is starting to be quite a busy little crew! They love interacting with the variety of types of toys we offer on a regular basis, and have bravely ventured out into the great green grass on their own paws (not just being carried out into the sunshine). They eagerly slurp up their yummy puppy mush and lazily lick the leftovers off each others' ears and paws when they're piled in a sleepy heap. They invite each other to clumsy mini wrestling matches and tumble over their own paws. They were fascinated by the plastic Easter eggs and enjoyed pouncing after these shiny and unpredictable new toys. Later this week the puppies will have a special play session that is secretly their personality profile exams! This weekend they get to meet their new families!!!
Bridget - 3lb, 3.5oz.
Carmen - 3lb, 7.5oz.
Bailey - 3lb, 0.9oz.
Tibby - 3lb, 3.7oz.
Lena - 3lb, 1.9oz.
3+ Weeks! Monday, April 4
The Sisterhood are entering their fourth week of life and starting to show off their stuff! Eyes open, they're toddling around fairly capably now, if still a little unsteady on their paws. Mama Cocoa has been doing a great job keeping the pups clean, and we've now introduced a litter box so the pups can continue to follow their instincts to keep their sleeping area clean. While still content to nurse from their mom, the pups are a curious crew and we had to move Cocoa's food bowl so the babies would stop crawling into it. We've had a few really nice sunny days, and the pups have been carried out to soak up some rays from the comfort of a warm lap on a patio chair (conveniently, we have 5 pups and 5 kids!) Anytime we wonder, "Where is Elizabeth?" we know where to look - she's sure to be near the puppy box, cuddling puppies, telling them stories, or singing them a little song. It's a pretty good time of our lives for all of us involved!
Lena - 31.9 oz.
Carmen - 32.8 oz.
Bailey - 29.5 oz.
Tibby - 33.7 oz.
Bridget - 33.0 oz.
First Litter! Friday, March 11
Mama Cocoa is a beautiful girl who excelled in the show ring, going all the way to the top to win the title of Prominent Champion with the APRI before settling in to domestic life. Dad Checkers has earned his Canine Good Citizen award as well as the AKC Community Canine designation (both for exhibiting excellent temperament and training). We are so pleased to introduce the first litter for these two - we think it's a winning combination!
There are five fat and healthy pups - all girls! I thought it would be a challenge to come up with a good theme for 5 girls, but then I remembered this book that I read sometime in my early days of college. I was pleased a few years later when the movie came out that it faithfully represented some of the best themes of friendship and coming of age. I'm so happy to introduce Lena, Carmen, Bridget, Tibby, and Bailey, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants puppies! |
