Puppy Visits and Families Chosen, August 9, 2014

The puppies had family visits this past Saturday, which went wonderfully.  After meeting 6 families, the pups now have forever homes all lined up, only 4 more weeks!!

Olaf (to be called NORM) will be moving to Durham, NH with Barry and Denise.
Pabbie (to be called RYDER) will be moving to NYC, with Jonathan, Stephanie and their daughter.
Kristoff (to be called BRODY) will be moving to Scituate, MA with Alan, Nicole, Christopher, Kylie and Joey.
Oaken (to be called COOPER) will be moving to Sandwich, MA with Bill and Lisa.
Sven (to be called OLIVER) will be moving to Ashby, MA with Jason, Kristie, Jason Jr. and Jillian.
Anna (to be called SKYLAR BLUE, Skye for short) will be moving to Kennebunkport, ME with Tracy and family.

Eyes Wide Open - well sort of, July 24, 2014

The puppies are now two weeks old and their eyes are open, well that is when they are awake, which at this age is not too much during the day :-).  We had a wonderful photo shoot outdoors enjoying the beautiful summer weather (thanks Kristin and Avery S. for lending a hand).  Pups and their pictures are listed by birth order.

Names Chosen, July 16, 2014

We decided to name the pups after the characters from Disney's Frozen.  
Anna - first born and the only female in this litter.  Anna is a light apricot (almost buff) little girl with a white mark on her forehead.
Sven - second born and smallest of the litter.  Sven is a dark apricot little guy with a curly coat.  He has white on his nose, forehead and chest.
Oaken - third born and the largest of the litter.  Oaken is a light apricot (almost buff) boy with a curly coat.  He has a white stripe that runs from his nose to the top of his head and has white on his chest.
Pabbie - fourth born and one of the bigger pups.  Pabbie is a dark apricot boy.  He has white on his forehead and an all white chest.
Kristoff - fifth born and one of the bigger pups.  Kristoff is a dark apricot boy.  He has a small white spot on his forehead and white on his neck.
Olaf - last born and medium in build (comparable to Anna).  Olaf is a light apricot boy.  He has a small white spot on his forehead.

A little earlier than we'd expected, but all the pups are thriving! We have all kinds of shades of apricot and buff. One little girl and her five brothers! Still working on names, and we hope to get photos up soon.

Having been Lab lovers for 50 years, our decision to have a small dog was not easy. Little did we know that Lucy would waltz into our lives and bring such joy, that it is difficult to imagine life without her. At 5 months she is a bundle of energy, loves people and dogs, and is intensely curious about everything, except big, noisy trucks. Lucy's transition to our home was made easy due to the care she received by Lydia of Dutch Haven Dogs. Murphy, the stuffed dog with a beating heart, came with Lucy, and can still be found each morning cuddled underneath her. Lucy has slept through the night all but the first 2 nights with us. The written routine given to us helped to get us through those first unknown weeks. Included in the pages of information given to us were tips about personality, behavior, and care. I remember Lydia telling us when we came to get Lucy, that she massaged the puppies' paws and ears daily so that they were used to being touched. To this day, it is part of my "loving" routine. We absolutely LOVED our experience with Dutch Haven! My favorite part is that the puppies are so well loved by the Groen family before they are ready to go to their new homes. Getting my dog from Dutch Haven was the best experience I could imagine. We got Dublin 6 years ago and I still think of the first time I contacted Dutch Haven to picking him out to bringing him home. The process was seamless. I happily waited 9 months for my puppy knowing he was coming from a loving, healthy family breeder.
