Patriotic and Prepared! June 29
Nearly 8 weeks old, making good progress potty training, already exposed to a myriad of normal household & life-with-kids experiences (vacuum, blender, slammed doors, wooden blocks tumbling down, happy squeals, visiting friends, being held while swinging on the swings, running feet, muddy paws, lawn mower, and MANY more!) These patriotic puppies are ready to celebrate independence with their new families in just a few days!

First time in the grass! June 10
Grass is always a surprising new texture - but these puppies are already getting used to new experiences and after taking a moment to sniff around and pat the strange new footing they were ready to explore!
Blossoming personalities! June 9
We are entering this wonderful stage with the puppies as they transition from a stage where their world revolves around their nest and their mom into an expanding interest in the world around them. They are curious, exploring, and responding to every new experience. Still small and snuggly, they're getting plenty of holding, handling, and cuddle time. But they're interspersing that with assimilating the early socialization exercises we're offering, with exposure to new sounds, smells, textures, toys, and more! We can't wait to introduce these babies to their new families this weekend!

First baths & Photo session! May 26
Warm weather means my kids were actually excited about holding soggy, towel-wrapped puppies as the pups dried out after their first baths. The puppies weren't exactly excited about bath time, but they took it well overall. And then we had a fun photo shoot in the warm doorway! And now, introducing.... the Patriotic Puppies!
Patience Wright - chocolate & white female - 1lb, 4oz. - Patience Wright lived in London during the American Revolutionary War, and corresponded with Benjamin Franklin. She was an outspoken patriot and started a fund to support American prisoners of war being held in Britain. She advocated for the POW's and legend has it that she also served as a spy, sending secret messages in wax statues. Our puppy Patience is the smallest of the litter, but she is sure to slip into the hearts of all who meet her!
Deborah Sampson - apricot & white female - 1lb, 12oz. - Deborah Sampson disguised herself as a man in order to enlist in the Continental Army. She joined an elite force of Light Infantry and served honorably for a year and a half, fighting, being wounded, and finally being discharged when the war was over. Puppy Deborah is gentle at heart and will be ready for whatever service she is called to.
Patrick Henry - chocolate & white male - 1lb, 9oz. - Patrick Henry was one of our country's Founding Fathers. He was home schooled and then self-taught. His bold speeches helped convince patriots to take action against the King's rule, most famously urging Virginians to form a militia with his rousing "Give me liberty or give me death!" ringing in their ears. This small Patrick is destined for greatness as well, with a quick mind that is ready to learn and ready for action.
Prudence Wright - chocolate & white female - 1lb, 6oz. - Mrs. Wright was elected to be the leader of a band of female militia members who patrolled their hometown and the local area in the absence of their husbands. According to legend, they even apprehended a loyalist spy trying to cross the bridge and held him until he could be questioned. Our little Prudence here will no doubt be capturing the hearts of everyone she meets!
Esther Reed - black & white female - 1lb, 9oz. - Esther de Berdt Reed was a great fan and supporter of General George Washington. She helped organize the Ladies Association of Philadelphia, which then collected $300,000 to support Washington's troops! At Washington's suggestion, the group then purchased linen and sewed more than 2200 shirts for the soldiers. We anticipate that our Esther will have as much enthusiasm for a good cause as her namesake!
Mercy Warren - black & white female - 1lb, 5oz. - Mercy Warren was an author who published poems and plays that encouraged others to rebel against the British during the Revolutionary War. She was intelligent and resonated with the people of her day. In the same way, this little Mercy's intelligence and personable nature is sure to make friends and influence people!
Molly Pitcher - apricot & white female - 1lb, 6oz. - The story of Molly Pitcher, who bravely stepped into her husband's position when he fell during the Revolutionary War has become a way of honoring some of the many women who helped win the war (even those who didn't "see action"). We expect this little Molly will courageously bring smiles and kindness into her world!
Ethan Allen - black & white male - 1lb, 10oz. - Revolutionary War hero Ethan Allen was quite a colorful character and tackled everything that came his way with gusto. Farmer, businessman, politician, author, and Colonel in the Continental Army; I'm sure this little puppy will follow in his namesake's steps and be up for whatever adventures life brings his way!
It's Parti Time! Friday, May 8
Hanna thoughtfully went into labor in the quiet morning hours before the kids woke up and while we hovered nearby, and she was contentedly snuggling with her 8 beautiful puppies by the time they came down for breakfast! We are so pleased with her colorful litter and we're sure these pups will grow up to be as lovely as their mama.
These babies will be ready to go home on July 3, so we're going to name them for Revolutionary War heroes!
