Off to their new families! Wednesday, January 22
Lacey's SweetiePie puppies are 8 weeks old! Most of these pictures are from 7 weeks old, including ones from that miraculously warm weekend we had where we could take them outside for a few lengthy playtimes. Their social skills are at the height of development, getting the all-so-important corrections from some of our mama dogs when they are just a little too over the top in their bounciness (like when jumping at their faces), playing "hide and pounce" on each other, continuing potty training, and keeping a nice routine of playing, napping, and eating. Squeaky and crinkly toys are their favorites, plus the tennis balls.
I feel like I say this all the time: "We've had so much fun with this litter," but it's true! Every group of puppies that we get to nurture through the newborn to this "preschool" age brings us, our visiting friends, and our family a lot of joy, largely because we know these weeks play such an important role in shaping their personalities and their view of people and other dogs for their entire lives.
These puppies are all staying in New England, all within a couple hours of us except for Milo who is headed close to NYC! This weekend they'll be off to their new fur-ever-and-ever homes and we will always remember them!

New Year - New Skills! Tuesday, December 31
Lacey’s puppies are 5 weeks old today and boy are they changing rapidly. It’s an extra sweet age — we can hold them in one hand as we move about our daily tasks and they are content there. Then the second we set them down, they burst into a clumsy trot around our living room, tails wagging with ardent interest in discovering new things. The holiday season brought many visitors to our house, most of whom were kids, so these puppies’ sensory development has included the noises, movements and holding positions that only little kids can give! The sensations and noises that come with grooming have also begun, and just today, their first meal of mushy big-pup solid food. YUM!
We hope all of our wonderful Dutch Haven families are looking forward to bringing in the new year!

Happy 3-Weeks Old! Tuesday, December 17
The puppies all have at least their front legs under them, rapidly becoming all fours. They are waddling over to potty away from where they sleep just as fast as they can start walking. Yesterday we noticed their ears are open because they are startled by abrupt noises. Mama Lacey is always present and relaxed about her feeding duties, leaving no one to lack. It's funny that they all weigh 1 lb, 13 oz, except for Pumpkin who has been the largest from the start, now weighing over 2 pounds.
We look forward to meeting new families on January 4th! With the holiday season upon us, the time is going to fly by!

Welcome Sweetie Pies! Tuesday, November 26
Welcome to the world, Lacey and Nico's puppies! We are thankful you're here, and thankful for the weather, time of day (notice I said day and not night!), and quick signs of life and health you all exhibited. You five are off to the best start a pup can have and everything about your mama's behavior shows she is content and fulfilled right now nursing and caring for you.
Given the timing of this litter's arrival -- we were planning our Thanksgiving recipes and figure many others were, too -- we have chosen, after much family debate (because with two teenagers now, opinions are strong!), that this fivesome will be named for pies!
This sweet litter has two boys and three girls and we are geared up here to give them the best a pup can have for the next 8 weeks.
1st born: "Peaches" (for peach pie), female, 7.1 oz, buff, waviest coat
2nd born: "Chester" (for chess pie), male, 6.1 oz, apricot, darkest coat
3rd born: "Pumpkin," female, 8.3 oz, buff
4th born: "Sweetie" (for sweet potato pie), female, 6.2 oz, buff
5th born: "Boston" (for Boston cream pie), male, 6.3 oz, buff
