Fond Farewell - June 23
It was a privilege having Lilac's Blooming Bushes litter in our home for the past 8 weeks. We do our best to prepare every pup for their new life ahead, and we feel that they teach us lessons along the way, too!
Buttonbush - renamed Cooper by his new family in Durham, ME!
Witch Hazel - now called Ginny by her new family in Essex Junction, VT!

Welcome Lilac's Babies! Saturday, April 23
Lilac is an experienced mama, but we are always on hand in case our girls need help, so we were watching as her labor progressed and her first two puppies arrived. And then things slowed down - WAY down. Midday, we decided Lilac needed a little more assistance than we could provide at home. Tucking the two babies securely into a warm nest with their mama, and with Matthew along to help watch over the pups while I drove, we made the trek to the emergency vet. We were so thankful to find competent, caring, and communicative staff who really listened to my concerns for Lilac's care. With their help, the remaining puppies were born naturally over the next several hours, and we returned home late at night, but triumphantly with Lilac and her six beautiful babies.
In this season, as blossoms are bursting out in every direction, we've decided to name the pups in honor of their mom - so they're all blooming bushes - brothers Quince and Buttonbush and their sisters Daphne, Camellia, Caryopteris (Cary), and Witch Hazel (Hazel).
