3 week photo shoot! June 1
Maisy's puppies are at a stage that's extra delightful to watch. Their sense of sight and hearing, along with ability to walk and play, are taking off! All of their eyes are open, we hear the cute rumblings of them discovering their vocals, and the kids giggle as they observe them pawing at their siblings and waggling their little tails! They still spend lots of time nursing and sleeping, but now also get to be held by the McLaughlin kids and their friends so as to ensure their human socialization is well underway at this prime time!
Orlando - male, 3 lb. 3 oz.
Rosalind - female, 2 lb. 12 oz.
Phoebe - female, 2 lb. 10 oz.
Celia - female, 2 lb. 10 oz.
Names Chosen & First Photo Shoot, May 17
These puppies look so classy with their formal "tuxedo-wear" so we went with a Shakespeare theme! But knowing these pups will be playful and funny, we went with names from "As You Like It", a romantic comedy involving mistaken identities, romps in the forest, and happy endings for all!
Orlando is a handsome gentleman
Phoebe is a proud shepherdess
Rosalind is the lovely heroine
Celia is the loyal companion

Orlando - male, white chin & chest stripe 18.3 oz.
Handsome little Orlando arrived first and weighed in at a healthy 8.5 oz. at birth. Mama Maisy -- this being her first whelping experience -- took a few moments to forge the bond we like to see, but once established, it was evidently very strong! He nursed like a champ within minutes and continues to.
Phoebe - female, white chin, chest, paw tips 15.0 oz.
"Sweet Phoebe," as she is called in Shakespeare's play, was born an hour after Orlando. Her first weigh-in was 7.4 ounces. She bears the distinguishing marks of her paws looking as if they gently stepped in white paint.
Rosalind - female, white chest 16.6 oz.
Loyal, humble, and wise describe Rosalind in "As You Like It." We also know she was beautiful, just like our Maisy and Nico's Rosalind. Her shiny black coat covers her from head to tail and all down her legs, except for the white tuxedo markings on her chest.
Celia - female, white chin, chest, front left paw 15.6 oz.
Celia, born rapidly after Rosalind, weighed in at 7.6 ounces at birth, with very evident wavy coat and a precious white-tipped front paw. She is "fair and excellent" in Shakespeare's play and we think so, too!
Yay!! Puppies have arrived! May 11
Maisy's first litter arrived very early in the morning on Friday, May 11, with the first puppy born right at midnight! All pups are black with a little white stripe down the chest (we like to call it a tuxedo). All four puppies (one male, three females) are eating and growing rapidly!
