8 Weeks: May I Have This Dance? How about this Snuggle? And this stuffed raccoon?

To the 6 New England families and 1 Southern family taking home these beauties: yes, you may! They are ready to take your hand now and for fur-ever!

We’ve had excellent outside weather lately for lengthy playtimes outside. While they are ever-so active and playful in the wet, dewy morning grass, they clean up well into their dance-party best for pictures, and can sit on my childrens’ laps for an entire movie. That is part of the Cockapoo’s excellence — they match your rhythm of life.

We will miss you all but we know you won’t be short of adoring audiences watching you dance through life.
V-Dubs: 4.7 pounds, now Sarge and headed to Sudbury, MA!
Tango: 3.9 pounds, making her new home in Durham, CT!
Foxtrot, newly named Lucca: 3.9 pounds, Stoneham, MA is his new home!
Rumba: 3.9 pounds, going to settle in Halifax, MA!
Cha-Cha (new name is “Nova”): 3.5 pounds, traveling the furthest! to Hattiesburg, MS!
Bachata (new name is “Archie”): 4.6 pounds, his new digs is Westwood, MA!
Samba (new name is also “Nova"): 3.7 pounds, remaining a Granite Stater in Bedford, NH!

Can't wait to meet our families! September 24

Maisy's puppies are 5 weeks and out to steal hearts with their big, bright shining eyes and absurdly cute antics! They've started the weaning process, moving to soggy big pup food and they instantly acted like it was quite appetizing! With the beautiful weather, we are taking them outside a lot. Potty training continues in remarkable fashion -- these pups know what to do where! Integrated with Milly's pups for most of the day, they also alternate their beginning dance lessons with trips to the living room and backyard to learn the first dancing steps: balance, one foot in front of the other, oops, don't fall! And dance etiquette only dogs know: sniff behinds first, take swats at your buddies while they do their business, and call out for mama or your human people for snacks and cuddles to keep you going, 'cause boy is this growing business exhausting, never mind taking more than a few minutes of dance lessons at once!
Cha-Cha, no collar, female, 2.65 lbs
This curly girl has lightly interwoven brown on her legs. Like Samba, she has taken to everything like a typical Dutch Haven dog: toddlers, loud noises, pick me up, put me down.. whatever floats your boat floats mine!
V-Dubs, blue collar, male, 3.36 lbs
V-Dubs has assumed the status of leader of the pack, according to this week's observations. He is quick about everything -- one of the first to pop up from a nap when I bend down to greet and pick up pups.
Rumba, purple collar, female, 2.88 lbs
We've identified her as the most active female, and right behind V-Dubs and Bachata in quickness to explore new things. Her coat is silky and on the straighter end.
Samba, light pink collar, female, 2.77 lbs
Samba is outgoing and good-natured, with a coat of silky waves much like Rumba's. You have to look hard to find any brown on her.
Bachata, green collar, male, 3.25 lbs
Not quite as bold as V-Dubs, but nearly so! He's our "brown-eyebrowed" boy, and you can see the brown on his legs without looking hard at all.
Tango, turquoise collar, female, 3.06 lbs
Currently the most laid back of the girls, she is almost as curly as Cha-Cha, and she has bits of brown on her legs.
Foxtrot, yellow collar, male, 2.75 lbs
This curly boy is also the most petite and most laid-back. He grips our hands when we hold him; we aren't sure what that means yet, but it sure is consistent!

Taking a 3-week-old's look around! September 9

We can now lock eyes with our sweet #DancingPups litter and that eye contract we can now enjoy melts our hearts even faster as we hold them! They reached three weeks old today, have opened their wide, shiny, bluish eyes, and they’re on the move, taking swings at each other on their way down from learning to stand.

ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) continues, and we’ve started nail trimming, giving quick baths, and exposure to the small hands and high voice of our 3 year old, plus some classical music. I gotta admit though, this litter will hear more than classical - they will dance to their namesake tunes!

Aunties Scout and Lacey and Uncle Angus are giving them routine sniffs and occasional licks since we know that with their eyes open, socialization with other dogs is critical to start now. Weight-wise, they’re all trending on similar growth curves and no, those aren’t typos — all 4 girls have the exact same weight!
V-Dubs, male, 1.99 lb, blue collar
Introducing V-Dubs, our chosen cool-guy nickname for Viennese Waltz, the  firstborn pup from Maisy and Nico’s #DancingPups litter. He’s the leader of this pack, being the largest and the first to climb out of the whelping box! His silkier, straighter coat sports a white tuxedo as they all do, but his is the faintest.
Tango, female, 1.74 lb, light sage collar
Meet Tango, 2nd born to sweet Mama Maisy. She is well-proportioned and seems exceptionally coordinated and quick, so we’ll be keeping our eyes on her to see what that might mean personality-wise. She has more white than V-Dubs but not as much as most of her sisters.
Foxtrot, male, 1.62 lb, yellow collar
This is Foxtrot, perhaps a future cuddler powerhouse, because he appears more docile than the rest and gazed at me adoringly as I caressed his face and scratched his ears mid photo shoot. His tuxedo is a thin white stripe, slightly broken up.
Rumba, female, 1.74 lb, purple collar
With prominent, shiny eyes and the only one with a white-dipped paw (left rear), she has a thicker white stripe down her chest, and her take on life, if it’s anything like her photo shoot, seems to be “work hard, play hard.”
Bachata, male, 1.96 lb, green collar
Stunning, more straight-coated, and silky Bachata wears the brown in this family — brown eyebrows, brown on legs, and some placed horizontally below his tuxedo! His coloring may be classified as “phantom” — we will soon know as more brown appears! He was an adventurer today on his 3 week old birthday with big bro’ V-Dubs, following behind him in seeking adventure outside the whelping box.
Cha Cha, female, 1.74 lb, no collar
This sunbather is frequently found lying on her back, “sunning” under the heat lamp. Or is she showing off her thick white chest patch that outdoes the other tuxedos sizewise? Who knows, but she yawned away after her exhausting photo shoot, so I quickly got her back to her sun lamp!
Samba, female, 1.74 lb, pink collar
I will never forget Samba’s birth. As we were doting on Cha Cha, Samba emerged, so close on Cha Cha's heels we weren't even expecting her! She’s a sweetie, and we’ll be on the lookout for emerging personality trends for her, too!

Welcome little ones, August 19, 2019

Maisy gave birth to a healthy litter of 7 black tuxedo pups this past Monday between 7 and 10 am. After many hours of watching her every move during stage 1 of her labor, her contractions finally picked up in the wee hours of the morning. Then she chose a new whelping box at the last minute, keeping us on our toes as we quickly relocated all of our supplies! All puppies quickly demonstrated excellent muscle tone, movement, breathing, and nursing abilities, and Maisy has taken to her new role of nearly round-the-clock feeding very well.

This litter is named for dances, as our kids love ballroom dancing! Over the next 8 weeks, the pups will get to hear many different styles of music in our home, and should participate in some partner (human-puppy) lessons with the kids in the living room!

1. “V-Dubs” (short for Viennese Waltz), male, 6.4 oz
2. Tango, female, 5.1 oz
3. Foxtrot, male, 5.4 oz
4. Rumba, female, 5.9 oz
5. Bachata, male, 6.5 oz
6. Cha-Cha, female, 6.0 oz
7. Samba, female, 5.1 oz

What Our Clients Are Saying

Having been Lab lovers for 50 years, our decision to have a small dog was not easy. Little did we know that Lucy would waltz into our lives and bring such joy, that it is difficult to imagine life without her. At 5 months she is a bundle of energy, loves people and dogs, and is intensely curious about everything, except big, noisy trucks. Lucy's transition to our home was made easy due to the care she received by Lydia of Dutch Haven Dogs. Murphy, the stuffed dog with a beating heart, came with Lucy, and can still be found each morning cuddled underneath her. Lucy has slept through the night all but the first 2 nights with us. The written routine given to us helped to get us through those first unknown weeks. Included in the pages of information given to us were tips about personality, behavior, and care. I remember Lydia telling us when we came to get Lucy, that she massaged the puppies' paws and ears daily so that they were used to being touched. To this day, it is part of my "loving" routine. And we do love her so very much. Fondly, Sandy, Kittery, ME

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Dutch Haven dogs. Our pup has been such a delight for the short few months we’ve had her. Everything about this process was amazing. Communication, answering questions, supplies, lists. Not to mention the love and care these pups get before we get to bring them home. My girl is an angel, she loves people. She’s friendly, she’s sweet. I couldn’t be happier. ~Heather, Eliot, ME

I am forever grateful to Dutch Haven Dogs for uniting me with my Gemma (Santa Clara) back in 2015. From our first conversation, I knew Dutch Haven not only had the knowledge of the Cockapoo breed, but also had the passion for what they do. They raise their pups surrounded by children who nurture them with all the love and cuddles! My Gemma is the smartest, most loyal dog, and she remains by my side as my best friend. Thank you Dutch Haven for breeding dogs with good health, temperment, and beauty. Huge shout out to you from us in CT!!! Christie, North Haven, CT

Getting my dog from Dutch Haven was the best experience I could imagine. We got Dublin 6 years ago and I still think of the first time I contacted Dutch Haven to picking him out to bringing him home. The process was seamless. I happily waited 9 months for my puppy knowing he was coming from a loving, healthy family breeder. We were kept updated about our place on the waitlist, and photos were shared once our litter was born. My dog is very healthy and happy and I credit a lot of that to Dutch Haven being so reputable and caring of their dogs. When I get another dog, it will be from Dutch Haven! Thank you and hello from Dublin! Kristin, Dover, NH
