Leaps & Bounds! 10.4.23

Mindy's puppies are having so much fun! And they're tons of fun for us, too! Pouncing, playing, learning, licking, exploring, entertaining - life is full! We've been getting little glimpses into their individual personalities over the past week or so and we're doing personality profiles this week. We can't wait to introduce these little charmers to their new families this weekend!
Winnie, female, magenta collar - now known as Keira to her family in Middleboro, MA!
Tiny, female, pink collar - going home to Arlington, MA and known as Sylvie!
Roland, male, black collar - going home to Pawcatuck, CT!
Pearl, female, white collar - Going home to Topsham, MA with the new name Gertie!
Mason, male, red collar - Going home to Weehawken, NJ and renamed Junior!
Becky, female, yellow collar - newly named Mazie and going home to Wakefield, MA!

Take a Peek! 9.19.23

Mindy's puppies are thriving under their mama's close attention! They're sporting round bellies, glossy coats, and milk mustaches all around! The pups opened their eyes a few days ago and have definitely gotten more vocal as they explore their playpen (creeping on all fours) and our house (from the vantage point and safety of our arms). Most of the day is still spent napping, but it won't be long before they start playing and engaging in increasingly fun and meaningful ways! Meanwhile, we're offering age-appropriate developmental experiences and enjoying each day with these cuties.

Mindy's Musical Munchkins! August 25, 2023

Mindy is such a laid-back pup that she didn't even tell us (or have obvious signs) when she went into labor a few days ahead of her due date! She quietly and sweetly welcomed several of her pups into the world before we even realized it was happening. As a first-time mama, Mindy is clearly a natural - she's keeping her pups immaculately clean and their coats are glossy and soft, a testament to rich mama-milk! 

The shiny black of these pups, and the sharp contrast of black and white, as well as their birthday coinciding with the beginning of the boys' piano lessons starting back up after summer break, was the inspiration for these piano-minded puppy names! Our friend who is a music major pointed us towards some of the best piano brands.

Having been Lab lovers for 50 years, our decision to have a small dog was not easy. Little did we know that Lucy would waltz into our lives and bring such joy, that it is difficult to imagine life without her. At 5 months she is a bundle of energy, loves people and dogs, and is intensely curious about everything, except big, noisy trucks. Lucy's transition to our home was made easy due to the care she received by Lydia of Dutch Haven Dogs. Murphy, the stuffed dog with a beating heart, came with Lucy, and can still be found each morning cuddled underneath her. Lucy has slept through the night all but the first 2 nights with us. The written routine given to us helped to get us through those first unknown weeks. Included in the pages of information given to us were tips about personality, behavior, and care. I remember Lydia telling us when we came to get Lucy, that she massaged the puppies' paws and ears daily so that they were used to being touched. To this day, it is part of my "loving" routine. Getting my dog from Dutch Haven was the best experience I could imagine. We got Dublin 6 years ago and I still think of the first time I contacted Dutch Haven to picking him out to bringing him home.
