5 Weeks Old! 8.5.23

Rosie! This little lady has a lot of gentle spunk and a great sense of humor. She's easygoing and loves life!
Mulberry! This sweet girl is outgoing and always ready for cuddles or an adventure. She loves romping around in the yard with the big dogs and napping at our feet when she's done!
Finnegan! This precious boy has a gentle soul and easygoing nature. He leisurely explores new places and is often the first back to bed after an outing. A sweet cuddle bug!

3 Weeks for 3 Pups! 7.19.23

Muffet’s Nursery Rhyme pups are nearly 3 weeks old! This past week was a big week for them as their eyes and ears opened within just a few days of each other. They completed their ENS and ESI (Early Scent Introduction) and are now getting daily 10-step handling, novelty experiences, and lots of cuddles! This week, they'll start litter box training and their first puppy mush! Muffet is still nursing often, hence the beautiful round bellies on these pups, so they will have a nice gradual transition to big doggie food!

Muffet becomes a Mama! 6.30.23

Friday, June 30th - We Welcome Little Miss Muffet’s Nursery Rhymes:
We were delighted that Muffet’s due date for her debut litter fell during summer break, when Muffet’s favorite human, Tori, would be home from college!
After several long nights of watching and waiting, Muffet woke Tori up early on Friday morning, and welcomed her first puppy less than an hour later! Muffet knew immediately how to clean and cuddle her baby and was a totally natural by the time her second and third arrived! Even as she takes to her new motherhood role so well, Muffet is maintaining her fun-loving personality and was back to chasing her tennis ball in the backyard only hours after birth. Her puppies are growing nicely rounded bellies and shiny, healthy coats!
Muffet’s full name is Little Miss Muffet and her sister here at Dutch Haven is Little Bo Peep, so we decided that this lovely little litter would run with the family theme and take their names from nursery rhymes!
    --Mulberry (Here we go round the mulberry bush) - chocolate girl - 9.11 oz
    --Rosie (Ring around the rosie) - cream parti girl - 6.88 oz
    --Finnegan (There was an old man named Michael Finnegan) - cream boy - 8.58 oz​

Having been Lab lovers for 50 years, our decision to have a small dog was not easy. Little did we know that Lucy would waltz into our lives and bring such joy, that it is difficult to imagine life without her. At 5 months she is a bundle of energy, loves people and dogs, and is intensely curious about everything, except big, noisy trucks. Lucy's transition to our home was made easy due to the care she received by Lydia of Dutch Haven Dogs. Murphy, the stuffed dog with a beating heart, came with Lucy, and can still be found each morning cuddled underneath her. Lucy has slept through the night all but the first 2 nights with us. The written routine given to us helped to get us through those first unknown weeks. Included in the pages of information given to us were tips about personality, behavior, and care. I remember Lydia telling us when we came to get Lucy, that she massaged the puppies' paws and ears daily so that they were used to being touched. To this day, it is part of my "loving" routine. Getting my dog from Dutch Haven was the best experience I could imagine. We got Dublin 6 years ago and I still think of the first time I contacted Dutch Haven to picking him out to bringing him home. The process was seamless. I happily waited 9 months for my puppy knowing he was coming from a loving, healthy family breeder.
