We're Big Dogs Now!
The puppies weighed in this week and everyone was really close to 5 pounds! (Except Willoughby, who is nearly 6!) They are very playful and LOVE their rope dolly, pouncing on each other and their aunties (Mom doesn't have much patience for them at this point!), and snoozing all in a big heap. They do NOT love the cold weather, but their warm coats make potty runs bearable. Unfortunately, their paws get so cold they slip and slide on the ramp leading back up to the dog door so recently we've had to pick them up to get back inside. Though we noticed this morning that some of them had the brilliant idea of getting a running start and they made it to the top! Smart puppies! Anyways, they'll be ready to go home in just a couple of days.
Merry Christmas!
The puppies are exactly 1 month old today! Happy monthday puppies :-) They are getting more and more interactive every day, and often exercise their vocal cords with funny little yips and barks. They're also exercising their bodies and are getting more stable on their paws, starting to be interested in toys, and occasionally chew on each other's ears. No teeth yet but I expect them any day!
Happy Thanksgiving!
With their mom snuggled up with them to keep them warm the puppies didn't mind that our power was out thanks to an early snow storm! And they are developing right on schedule - they all started opening their eyes on Thanksgiving Day. The puppies still sleep most of the time, but now are looking at us when we hold them. (Don't worry if they look squinty - the flash was a bit much for them.)
Mya's Puppies Arrived November 14!
What a beautiful litter - Mya definitely takes after her mom (Pretty). She's been an excellent mother, nursing and caring for her puppies quite attentively. The pups are all thriving and it's so fun to see them curled up together with their mommy. I decided to go with an Austen theme for the names. It's always difficult to get good photos of the newborns, but I had some good helpers with this photo shoot. The puppies seemed to pose better for Jack than they usually do for us grownups!
